Today we have a new addition to the family...

Darren Smith has joined the Edinburgh IT Service team at Grant McGregor Ltd as an experienced IT Support Analyst.

After graduating from College with a HND in Computing back in 2008, Darren went on to work for a Global contract research organisation within the pharmaceutical industry as an IT Technician.

During his time there he was responsible for providing 1st and 2nd line IT support to over 800 users, locally resolving hardware and software issues for a wide variety of end users.

He was involved with the implementation of a managed print service, as well as many other major projects, including the roll out of Windows 7 to the organisation.

Darren then went on to support a mixed set of business critical systems, such as document management systems and the company’s global Citrix server environment, both locally and remotely to over 8,500 users worldwide.

He also successfully implemented a replacement Global Helpdesk system to replace a legacy application and increase productivity within the IT department.

Darren’s attention to detail, extensive knowledge of working under pressure and to tight deadlines, along with his pleasant manner, made him the perfect person to fill this additional role at the growing IT Services team at Grant McGregor in Edinburgh.

"We're all delighted to add Darren as our latest member of our team. He will definitely add some new knowledge and experience to the IT Helpdesk Team but also brings some valuable experience of implementing IT system upgrades and completing some more unusual IT update projects successfully too!" says David Lawrence, Director at Edinburgh - based IT Services Company, Grant McGregor Ltd.
